How To Lose Belly Fat Female Over 40 – Wondering what the hell happens to your stomach after you turn 40? Does it feel like it will never be flat again? If you’re in your 40s or 50s, you can find piles of weight there more than anywhere else, creating rolls and the classic “apple” body shape.

If you feel like you just can’t lose belly fat after 40, I’m talking about this article. Let’s take a look at some hard truths about why belly fat can gain and what you can do about it. The reason I say the “hard” truth is because I think too many people blame age and hormones. These things definitely make it more difficult and change the way your body stores fat. But there are usually more obvious things like your lifestyle that need to be addressed before you can blame age.

A lot is out of your control in your 40s, and the accusatory age takes away your ability to change things. I work with so many women over 40 who have had fantastic transformations and losing belly fat is possible at any age if you work hard. By changing what you do and the way you think, you can make a great difference – no matter what your age.

Which Exercise Burns Belly Fat? Here’s What The Science Says

I train many women in their 40s who are experiencing significant body changes without extreme effort. Many of these women have nice bellies. In fact, I have clients in their 50s who can still rock a bikini. I asked one of my clients if I could share her photo to inspire you in this article. Check out her amazing physique – hard to believe she’s 49!

Yes, your hormones and metabolism change, which can make things more difficult, especially during menopause. Yes, the skin changes too and even begins to sag or appear cellulite, which means your stomach may not feel good. Some of you have given birth to babies that have permanently changed your abdominal area. But many women gain weight in their 40s because of lifestyle, not age or changing hormones. Thinking about lifestyle first means you are in control of the results and more motivated because you can do something about it.

Understanding your body type is very helpful at this time. Some women struggle more than others because of their body type. But again – this isn’t an excuse – it’s just a reality you may have to face. I am one of those ladies. I have never had a great waist because of my natural shape. I have a shorter torso, a large chest and defined abs. Abs affect how your abs look because they affect how much your muscles pop or how fat you look. Even my skinny one doesn’t look amazing. That’s why you’ll never see me wearing sports bras on social media.

When I gain weight because of my body shape, I feel it in my stomach. But it’s been that way since I was in my 20s. I’ve never been a big fan of my stomach. It’s my worst body part. I’ll probably feel worse during menopause – but I know there’s only so much I can do to help with diet and exercise.

Belly Fat: Types, Risk Factors, And How To Reduce It

Taller, slimmer ladies don’t struggle with belly fat as much—especially if they take care of themselves. I have a few 50 year old ladies with this shape who have gone through menopause with little if any weight gain. But these ladies also take care of themselves, so it’s hard to tell if it’s their body type or their lifestyle (or both).

So understanding your body type is one of the first things to do when dealing with belly fat. If you tend to store fat around your midsection, that means you may need to work a little harder. Eat a little better, drink less wine. The first thing to do is be honest about your lifestyle before you blame age, so let’s talk more about that.

As we discussed in the previous section, maintaining a lean body becomes more difficult as you age, but weight gain is not inevitable. Just like a fire, you need something to light it. While weight gain can be harder to lose as you get older, it’s your lifestyle that ultimately causes your weight to spiral out of control. Your lifestyle lights the fire.

Your lifestyle either supports a slim body or it doesn’t. And in my experience, most women who gain weight after 40 aren’t doing everything they could to get the lean body they want. That’s why I say you can’t blame age until you check your lifestyle. For many women, the first necessary step is to become responsible for what they eat and drink. While you may have gotten away with “winging it” in your earlier years, you need to toughen things up in your 40s.

Here’s the truth – most women who gain weight do NOT count calories EVERY DAY. You might think you don’t want to count calories.

I see it so often. Ladies complain of excessive weight gain, but do little to control it. That means drinking a little less (or maybe a lot less) and spending 5-10 minutes a day on a calorie-tracking app — but that’s really a small price to pay to stay on top of things and feel better. yourself and ultimately be healthier as you age.

The good news is that it’s not as hard as you think. There is also no need for an extreme diet and you can still drink wine. But you have to consider it, and you can’t drink wine every night. It just doesn’t work for stomach fat. Many of my clients find a very happy balance between their social life and achieving the body they want – it is possible!

Here’s a testimonial from one of my clients in their 40s that shows it really works:

Abs After 40: You’re Never Too Old To Get In Shape

I always thought I wouldn’t like keeping a food journal, but it’s been really helpful to me… Thanks for not just saying, “If you want to see results, you have to cut out the wine.” I’ve said it before, and to be honest, I’ve struggled with it. But when I see the effect on my diet myself, I know what I need to do and I feel in control. Thanks again – this is the first time in years I’ve seen results.

One of the most important tools to avoid falling into middle-aged softness is strength training. I can’t stress enough how important it is to focus on maintaining and building muscle in your 40s and beyond. Strength training, if done correctly, can help fight the “middle-age spread,” where your limbs get thinner and your middle gets bigger. Building muscle also makes you look younger, boosts your metabolism, protects your bones, improves your posture, and makes you less prone to falls as you get older.

Some of you continue to fight your body well into your 40s. Always trying to lose those last few pounds. The sad part is that you are doing yourself a huge disservice. If you’ve had kids or have a nice lifestyle, you have to realize that you don’t look like you did in your 20s.

There is one more thing you need to stop and think about…really STOP and think about for a minute. As you begin to hit your later years, you’ll actually look better on the slightly heavier side rather than the leaner side. One reason for this is your muscles. Women who eat well (including carbs) tend to look stronger and more muscular. My favorite days at the gym are the mornings after eating a big plate of spaghetti for dinner. While my abs may not look amazing, my arms sure do because my muscles are full of glycogen.

You should also remember that in our 40s we begin to lose facial bone and muscle and the fat begins to shift downward. In my experience, women almost always look better on the face if they’re a little on the heavier side, not slimmer. I’m not saying you have to be overweight to look good, but I am saying that chasing those last few pounds won’t do you any good – for a number of reasons. It’s not good for your mental health, but most women also don’t think about what it actually does to their overall appearance.

This is your time to take care of your body and build it to be strong and durable for your later years. Honestly, if I focused on the worst part of my body – which is my stomach – I would never be happy with my body. Instead of that
