In an interview with GoErie, Percy Jackson and Olympians star Walker Scobell revealed when they believe the show will eventually become a Disney+ hit.

While discussing how “[he] has four days off from May,” the actor noted how the project will begin airing on Disney+ in late 2023 or 2024.

In one of his blog posts, Riordan revealed that “the most likely air date would be early 2024:”.

“Taking all of this into consideration, I think the most likely broadcast date would be early 2024. Again, that’s just my guess. Actual release dates are determined by the studio and streaming service, and hundreds of other factors must be taken into account, such as the release schedule of all Disney+ shows, time for publicity, etc.

If Scobell is right, fans can expect to start watching the show before the end of 2023.

In the same interview with GoErie, Scobell noted that when they resume production on Jan. 2, they’ll be filming “all the fun stuff,” including the “Ares fight.”

“That’s when we film all the fun stuff like the Ares fight (between the Greek god of war and Percy Jackson) … and then I’ll finish up Season 2.”

As for the second season, a renewal has yet to be confirmed and the star was unsure when work on it would begin.

The actor commented on how “fascinating” it was to work on the series with writer Rick Riordan, but at the same time, it was absolutely “terrifying:”

“[Working with Rick Riordan] is amazing, but also scary because he created the book and it all happened. You always have to be on your A-game, especially in front of him.

Although the young actor is still looking for other acting jobs, he promises to “stick with Percy Jackson.”

The show has been in production for quite some time now, with cameras rolling back in June. This could indicate that there will be a lot of post-work for the series—especially considering how VFX-heavy some of the big moments are.

It is also important to note how long the project has been filming. As the show has now completed its sixth month, it is proving to be quite a long production.

By comparison, the first season of The Mandalorian only took five months to shoot. With half a year in production, Percy Jackson doesn’t seem to be slowing down—especially if they’re now going to shoot a pivotal sequence like the fight with Ares.
