These are science-based and proven tips to try. Remember, different drugs work on different areas. Always test things and try what works.

If you want to know how to get rid of baby cockroaches in the house or if you have pets, then you will enjoy these tips. Store-bought sprays are effective, but you probably don’t want your kids and pets getting in on it!

The fastest way is to try our homemade spray. Yes, it’s made for ants, but I’ve had dozens and dozens of readers write to me and say it works amazingly on cockroaches in the house.

If you have larger cockroaches to deal with, eliminate the water from the above solution and replace it with extra vinegar. This means that the solution will contain 4 cups of vinegar, 3 tablespoons of dawn, 3 tablespoons of salt. I have used it on small cockroaches and it kills them instantly.

Borax is beneficial for many insects including cockroaches! Keep in mind that the borax you buy at the grocery store in the laundry section is not boric acid. Despite many myths, borax is safe to use in the home. You can read more myth busting and the science behind borax in this post.

Using borax as an insecticide works if the insect can get through it. Professionals say cockroaches can see borax powder, so it’s best to lightly dust the areas where they hide. When they go through the borax, it sticks to their legs. As they try to remove it and swallow it, the borax ends up killing them. It’s not a question of if the borax kills them, but when. Sodium borate has been scientifically proven to kill insects.

Diy Home Remedies For Cockroaches Control In Kitchen

Borax is a long-term treatment. If you decide to use this home remedy, continue dusting the area for several weeks to a month.

We asked readers about using diatomaceous earth for ants. I think this substance is an excellent natural remedy for killing most insects, but I don’t like to use it IN the house. It makes a big mess and can be harmful to people with breathing problems. You may be wondering if this is true for borax? No, the borax is more granular and not as much as needed. Diatomaceous earth is very powdery and requires more to kill insects. It’s a great option for going out.

The Natural Pesticide Information Center describes diatomaceous earth as a substance made from the fossilized remains of aquatic organisms called diatoms. Particles of this substance damage and kill insects. It is also a registered cockroach killer.

You can use this by dusting around flower beds and porches to get rid of cockroaches. Be sure to use gloves and do not inhale the dust.

What To Expect After An Exterminator Sprays For Roaches

Different oils can be used to repel insects, but peppermint oil is one of the best ways to repel cockroaches! Essential oils cannot kill cockroaches, but they will deter them.

Mix about 15 drops of peppermint oil with 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. Spray around sinks, door frames, and anywhere else cockroaches cross to enter your home. I prefer to mix it with alcohol, but you can also mix it with vinegar. Rubbing alcohol is safe for all surfaces, so it’s always my go-to.

Try cinnamon oil for the interior of the house. Don’t use anything expensive, I only use Plant Therapy brand. Make a spray like the one discussed above with peppermint and use the same way.
