The university is in the digital transformation (Dx). Learning technologies and digital platforms are not a long-term thought; they are important for learning and teaching. The COVID-19 pandemic is a catalyst for Dx, forcing colleges, universities, educators, and students to quickly transition online. Some teachers and students are prepared for the change; those who were not prepared quickly.
This article presents current practices and guidelines for Dx through the process that support policy responses and structural changes that universities can make to improve teaching and digital learning.

. Our interpretation builds on existing research and Gregory Vial’s 2019 definition of Dx. It also coincides with the EDUCAUSE definition of Dx: “deep cultural sies and integration, personnel, and technological movements that enable new education and opating models and change certain institutional options, strategic directions, and value proposition.”
Dx is driven and built on digital technologies. It changed the educational landscape significantly. Partnering with Dx helps higher education institutions become more effective, stay competitive in an increasingly digital world, and prepare students for the digital workplace.
We have proven Dx in universities through our work as integrated professors and educational technology researchers. In this article, we propose a strategy that focuses on integrating digital technologies to extend Dx in higher education settings. According to Vial, structural changes in four areas are important for Dx: organizational structure, organizational culture, leadership, employee roles, and skills.
Modernizing, Learning From Data, And Staying Secure In Higher Education
Our Dx strategy for digital learning in higher education discusses seven areas within each of the following four areas: digital technologies, learning process, psonnel and support svices, program policies and program, teacher development, development, and partnerships (see figure 1). Some colleges and universities may already be in the middle of Dx, and others may just be starting.
While our process highlights seven distinct areas, achieving Dx for digital learning is an itative process. As advanced digital technologies develop, Dx initiatives will become commonplace for universities. Dx for digital learning brings flexibility and accessibility to students and prepares them to solve problems in the digital world. Dx efforts will continue to shape the processes and practices within higher education so that it is consistent and developed in parallel with society.
