How To Lose Stubborn Lower Belly Fat

Like most women, I have struggled with that stubborn lower belly fat that never seems to go away! You think you’re eating healthy, exercising, not overdoing it; you are losing weight but the dog is staying. In my experience, there is no magic secret diet that will get rid of it…it’s definitely a lifestyle change situation here. The phrase “abs are made in the kitchen” is so true! So if you want to know how I got rid of my underbelly dog, read on! (Also, FYI, I’ve never been pregnant, so my lower belly problem wasn’t from pregnancy. This post is my experience getting rid of lower belly fat of the womb.)

How To Get Rid Of Stubborn Belly Fat: Your 5 Step Plan Of Attack

I won’t lie, my trainer writes my meal plans for me. I’m a dancer training for audition season, so sometimes I need that accountability…being called out on my mistakes makes me make fewer mistakes (I’m not a dieter, so following a specific meal plan is very hard for me. I only do it for the few months before audition season but I love my tacos. I’m all for a lifestyle change and have treats in moderation when I’m not prepping -me for the auditions.) I did his nutrition plan to prepare. auditions last year, which I started in December 2018 and after the auditions ended, I didn’t follow their exact meal plans, but I kept making healthier food choices and continued good eating habits .

The picture below on the left was me in December 2018. I’ve always been thin, but as you can see, I have a distinct underbelly dog. I’ve always struggled to gain weight and keep it off, but as soon as I started putting on the wrong weight, it went straight to my lower belly. It always made me self-conscious and I tried so many ways to get rid of it that didn’t work. However, at the time, he was drinking every weekend and eating way too much dessert. Other than that, though, I was eating “healthy” but not “clean.”

The picture on the right was before I started my audition meal plan again in January 2020. There was about an 8 month gap between finishing last year’s meal plan and going back to start this year. Although I wasn’t following a strict meal plan, I had incorporated some major lifestyle changes, such as a diet that included mostly fruits, vegetables, fish, organic animal protein, much less alcohol (I’m no longer a drinker). ), and much less dessert.

I’ve learned a lot about how my body works and how to properly fuel it over the past year and a half or so. I know what caused my lower belly fat and I know how to get rid of mine. I know everyone’s body is different, but the tips I’m sharing are things I think you can incorporate to be healthier in general and hopefully help get rid of belly fat too!

Here’s Why Belly Fat Is Stubborn And How You Can Break It!

I know it sounds extreme and you’re probably saying to yourself “well one drink won’t hurt”. I used to say the same thing though, that a drink hurt! Again, everyone’s body is different and alcohol has no effect on belly fat for some people, but if you’re reading this and have that daily glass of wine, or just a few drinks with friends, you probably you are not one of those people. So try quitting alcohol for 2 weeks, or even a month… I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Also, I used to have a glass of wine or drink with friends every now and then, but after one drink, it was hard to turn down another one, and once you’ve had it, people pressure you for another. If you don’t drink, it’s easier to say no when people offer you a drink. And to top it off, if you’re only planning on having that “one drink,” why not have water or unsweetened iced tea instead? Most people claim they don’t feel any different after a drink, so why bother? Why consume calories and sugar?

I’ve noticed that when I go out, it’s not the non-alcohol that feels awkward… It’s not having a cup in my hand. So I just have water or unsweetened iced tea. And besides, I’ve realized that not drinking makes other people feel more uncomfortable than it does me. Just some things to think about!

If it comes in a package or you don’t know what it was, don’t eat it. Stick to fruits, vegetables, nuts, organic (or at least antibiotic-free) meat, wild-caught fish, organic grains (like oats, quinoa, rice…not bread and pasta) . Real food is easier to digest because you are Don’t try to digest like 30 ingredients at once.

My mindset is that God has provided us with all the food we need, in the form we need it. We are not meant to consume loads of preservatives and processed foods. If you are a Christian or even just curious about what the Bible says about what we should eat, look especially at Ezekiel 4:9 and Genesis 1:29. God gives very specific instructions about what foods we should eat!

You can season your food with seasonings like salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, cinnamon, basil, parsley, etc… you get my point. No artificial flavors and limit natural flavors. (In my opinion, artificial and natural flavors are the food world’s version of fragrance. There can be tons of ingredients hidden behind those words, and you don’t know what those ingredients are.) You don’t need a loads of seasonings with MSG and high content. High fructose corn syrup to make your food taste good!

Or severely limit it to a few times a month. Again, I know this seems extreme, but if you’re craving this sweet dessert, it’s possible to make it without refined sugar. Some great alternatives (to be used in moderation, ie a couple times a week, not a couple times a day) are coconut sugar, coconut nectar, raw organic honey, maple syrup organic, date sugar, stevia, ripe bananas or applesauce. It’s an adjustment to learn to bake with sugars and natural sweeteners, but remember, this is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE, not a crash diet!

Did you know that humans are the only mammals that drink milk after infancy and we are the only ones that drink milk from another animal?! It is not natural to consume dairy products. Babies are meant to drink their mother’s milk. Babies produce an enzyme called lactase that helps break down lactose. Humans no longer produce lactase beyond the age of 5. We, as adults, are not made to digest milk! Many people suffer from gas, bloating and various other digestive problems and think it is normal. Definitely not normal! And if you think you will lack calcium by not drinking milk, you are not! If you eat a balanced, whole food diet, you should not be deficient in most nutrients, including calcium. There are much better and healthier sources of calcium (like dark leafy greens). You don’t need dairy to get enough calcium!
