How To Get Rid Of Stubborn Belly Fat Quickly

Like most women, I’ve struggled with that stubborn lower belly fat that never seems to go away! You think you’re eating healthy, exercising, and not overeating; You lose weight but the dog stays on. From my experience, there is no secret magic diet to get rid of it…it’s definitely a lifestyle change here. The saying “abs are made in the kitchen” is so true! So, if you want to know how I got rid of the belly button in the lower abdomen, keep reading! (Also, just FYI, I’ve never been pregnant before, so my lower belly issue wasn’t due to pregnancy. This post is my experience getting rid of lower belly fat.)

I’m not going to lie, my coach writes my meal plans for me. I’m in dance training for audition season, so sometimes, I need accountability…getting called out on my mistakes makes me make fewer mistakes (I’m not on a diet, so sticking to a specific meal plan is very difficult for me. I do Only for the few months before audition season, but I love my tacos. I’m all for lifestyle changes and eat sweets in moderation when I’m not preparing for auditions.) I implemented his nutrition plan to prepare for auditions last year which I started in December 2018 and after the auditions were over, I did not keep up with his exact meal plans, however, I maintained healthy food choices and continued good eating habits.

The picture below on the left side was of me in December 2018. I have always been slim, but as you can see, I clearly have a belly below. I’ve always struggled to gain and maintain my weight, but as soon as I start gaining the wrong weight, it goes straight to my lower abdomen. It always made me feel self-conscious and I tried many ways to get rid of it and it didn’t work. However, at that time, I was drinking wine every weekend and eating a lot of sweets. Other than that, I was eating “healthy” but not “clean.”

The picture on the right was before I started my meal plan for exams back in January 2020. There was about an 8 month gap between finishing the meal plan from last year, and starting it again this year. Although I wasn’t committed to a strict meal plan, I made some big lifestyle changes, like following a diet that mostly included fruits, vegetables, fish, and organic animal protein and cutting back on alcohol a lot (I don’t drink anymore). ), and much less sweets.

I’ve learned a lot about how my body works and how to fuel it properly over the past year and a half or so. I know the reason behind my lower belly fat and I know how to keep it at bay. I know everyone’s body is different, but the tips I’m sharing are things I think you can incorporate to be healthier overall, and hopefully help get rid of belly fat too!

Lose Belly Fat: Tips And Strategies For A Flatter Stomach

I know this sounds extreme and you’re probably saying to yourself, “Well, one drink won’t hurt.” I was saying the same thing but one drink was painful! Again, everyone’s body is different, and alcohol has no effect on belly fat for some people, but if you’re reading this and have a daily glass of wine, or just a few drinks with friends, you’re probably not one of those people. So just try giving up alcohol for two weeks, or even a month… I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Also, I would have a glass of wine or drink with friends once in a while, but after that drink, it was hard to say no to another drink, and once you had that drink, people pressured you to have another drink. If you’ve never had a drink, it’s easier to say no when people offer you a drink. To top it off, if you’re only planning to have “one drink,” why not have water or unsweetened iced tea? Most people claim they don’t feel any different after one drink, so why bother? Why consume calories and sugar?

I’ve noticed that when I go out, it’s not the lack of alcohol that makes me feel awkward…and it’s not having a glass in my hand. So I just get water or unsweetened iced tea. I’ve also noticed that not drinking makes other people more uncomfortable than it makes me uncomfortable. Just some things to think about!

If it comes in a can or you don’t know what it is, don’t eat it. Stick to fruits, vegetables, nuts, organic (or at least antibiotic-free) meats, wild-caught fish, and organic grains (like oats, quinoa, and rice… not bread and pasta). Real food is easier to digest because you’re not trying to digest 30 ingredients at once.

My mindset is that God has provided us with all the food we need, in the form we need it. We are not supposed to consume a host of preservatives and processed foods. If you are a Christian or even just curious about what the Bible says about what we should eat, look at Ezekiel 4:9 and Genesis 1:29 in particular. God sets specific instructions about the foods we should eat!

You can season your food with spices like salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, cinnamon, basil, parsley, etc… you’ll get me there. There are no artificial flavors and minimal natural flavours. (In my opinion, artificial and natural flavors are the universal version of fragrance. There can be a lot of ingredients hiding behind those words and you don’t know what those ingredients are.) You don’t need a bunch of condiments that contain MSG and high fructose corn syrup to make it taste good. Your food is delicious!

Or limit it strictly to a few times a month. Again, I know this sounds extreme, but if you’re craving this sweet dessert, it’s possible to make it without refined sugar. Some great alternatives (which can be used in moderation, i.e. twice a week, not multiple times a day) are coconut sugar, coconut nectar, raw organic honey, organic maple syrup, date sugar, stevia, or ripe bananas. Or apple juice. It’s an adjustment to learn how to bake with natural sugars and sweeteners but remember this is a lifestyle change, not a quick-fix diet!

Did you know that humans are the only mammals that drink milk after breastfeeding, and we are the only mammals that drink another animal’s milk?! It is not normal to eat dairy products. Babies are supposed to drink their mother’s milk. Babies produce an enzyme called lactase that helps break down lactose. Humans no longer produce lactase after about the age of five. We, as adults, are not able to digest milk! Many people suffer from gas, bloating, and other digestive problems and think this is normal. It’s definitely not normal! And if you think you will lack calcium by not drinking milk, you are not! If you eat a wholesome and balanced diet, you should not be lacking in most nutrients, including calcium. There are better and healthier sources of calcium (such as dark leafy vegetables). You don’t need dairy products to get enough calcium!
