Everything You Need To Know About Carnival Cruises

Many people may think that the appeal of a cruise vacation is the incredible places to visit, in this case the idyllic ports of the Bahamas, Caribbean and Bermuda. But everyone should know that it’s also about all the fun you can have while on board! As our brightest new ship, Horizon sails with all the latest and greatest features. Here’s what to expect when it comes to outdoor activities in Horizon.

Carnival Cruise Line Cancels More Voyages, Sells 2 Ships

Located on the Sunlit Top Deck, Horizon Water Park is simply full of the fun entertainment you know and love from Dr. Seuss classics such as

. “Dr. Seuss WaterWorks’ side-by-side water slides were inspired by a book that has sparked imaginations for generations. First up is the Fun Things slide — all 285 feet of it — practically designed by Thing One and Thing Two themselves. And you can’t miss the red and white striped Cat’s Hat slide, modeled after the world’s most famous floppy hat. Dive into this one and prepare for twists, turns and heart-pounding rushes – most people manage 12mph on this incline.

Elsewhere, WaterWorks’ water spray toys and The Cat’s large, flip-top hat keep the chaos moving. That hat will hold an impressive 300 gallons of water – that’s about 4,800 glasses of water. But if you think that’s a big number, wait until you hear how much the entire WaterWorks park weighs – 49.4 tons, or about the same as six elephants!

Outside in the sun, you’ll also find SportSquare’s Horizon. Stop by if you’re looking for a little friendly competition, have some fierce fitness goals, or just want a little active fun. Get your body in the game and move around the basketball or volleyball court – team up with family and friends or find new buddies to dribble, shoot, spike and serve with. Nothing will elevate your game of choice like playing with an ocean view and the sea breeze in your hair, so enjoy it.

Carnival’s Newest Cruise Line Takes Travelers To Bermuda’s Pink Sands, But The Ship Itself Is The True Attraction

In one of those games that almost everyone loves, Horizon has mini golf – grab a club and face the many obstacles that stand between you and the hole. A big benefit of this workout is your facial muscles…think of all those smiles!

The games keep coming with table tennis, poly tennis, soccer ball and pool just waiting for you. Don’t write these things off as ‘easy’ – you can get a great workout standing up against your opponent in front of the ping pong table. (Imagine literally burning up to 500 calories an hour!) Poly Pong’s motto is the more the merrier, with more than a dozen players able to get in on the action at once. In other words, you better bring your A game!

For a more traditional workout, SportSquare has its own treadmill and a selection of outdoor gym equipment. Strap in and hit the course – seven laps are one mile, and the eighth grid is almost exactly one nautical mile. Now flex those biceps and get ready to dive in… it’s time to work up a sweat on the pull-up bar, elliptical and stations for chest, back, hip and leg strength exercises. (Try a day at sea!) When it’s time to cool off, you can hit the stretch bench and take in the panoramic ocean views. With images like these, it goes without saying that SportSquare can change the way you look at your gym day.

Looking for a sporting challenge with a twist? Head to Horizon’s Ropes Course, a ropes course like no other. If you were to connect the ropes used to build the course, you would have a single rope that is about six times the height of the Statue of Liberty! (But please don’t – the ropes course is more fun for us.)

What I Wish I Knew Before I Sailed My First Carnival Cruise

When it’s time to tackle the ropes course, you’ll have to do it your way. Choose from two challenge levels and enjoy just the right amount of adventure. Whether you’re playing on Easy or Hard, you’ll be safely strapped in for out-of-this-world views high above the ship. Add the height of the ship and the Ropes Course will safely rise to 150 feet above sea level, which is about ten times higher than a dolphin can jump out of the water.

The images don’t stop there. Another highlight of SportSquare on Horizon is the SkyRide, a sky-high bike path that allows you to strap in and spin safely on a two-lane track high above the ship’s deck. If built, the track would be roughly twice the length of a football field. But it’s not, and curves are the most fun you’ll have!

Factor in the height of the track and the height of the ship and you’ll realize you’re 145 feet above the ocean below. (Just think of those visuals!) Depending on how fast you go, you’ll also get a unique feel – you’ll get up to 2G of acceleration when the track drops, which means you’ll know what that feels like. to double your weight instantly. The good news is that it’s just part of the trip and it’s gone in no time, leaving you with plenty of room for lunch, dinner and dessert!

After all this non-stop action, you might feel the need to cool off. We don’t blame you! Head to the Lido Deck for a dip in the beach pool or tide pool, or settle into a poolside lounger and enjoy the view. You’ll also find some of Horizon’s amazing outdoor bars just steps away, so you can relax and refresh with a drink at BlueIguana Tequila Bar or RedFrog Rum Bar. Feeling hungry? Guy’s Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina are right next to the beach pool area, so you can grab a burrito, some tacos, burgers and fries… and enjoy the great outdoors again.

Cruising With Kids
