Set a timer for 12 minutes and see how many rounds you can do. Do 2-4 sets of the workout for effective results. You can incorporate this exercise along with your regular cardio or weight training routine. Half an hour or run, bike, jog, jog, etc. can be done along with this ab exercise.

How To Lose Belly Fat — 10 Exercises To Try

It is fast, maximizes fat burning and works to flatten and tone the abdominal muscles. The best part? It takes 20 minutes and you don’t need to crunch!

I’ve used this exercise with my clients and gotten some great feedback on it – so I’m sharing it with you!

Start on all fours. Exhale as you pull your knees in and up to your chest as far as possible. This is your starting position. Inhale and stretch your legs back and up until completely straight. Exhale and bring your knees toward your chest to complete one rep. Complete the same number of repetitions with both legs to complete one set.

Get into plank position. This is your starting position. Begin the move by lifting one leg as high as possible, while keeping your hips perpendicular to the floor. Lower your legs back down to the starting position. Immediately repeat the movement, lifting the other leg to complete one repetition.

Lie with your legs stretched out with your toes pointed. Contract your abs and lift your legs about 6 inches off the ground. This is your starting position. Raise one leg straight up and then quickly lower it, while lifting the other leg up. Scissor kick both legs once to complete one rep. Continue alternating lifting and lowering your legs without stopping or touching the floor until you complete your set. Tip: Extend your arms to the side or under your buttocks for support.

Side plank is your starting position. Lower your hips to the floor, then immediately raise your hips back to the starting position. Continue rocking your hips up and down, quickly increasing the number of repetitions until you feel the burn. When you feel the burn, do it 5 more times. Switch sides and repeat the movement on the other side to complete your set.

Get into a side plank position with your upper arms extended straight above your head. This is your starting position. Rotate your arm under your body, threading it through the space between your body and the ground, as if you were drawing thread through a needle. Reverse the movement and return to the starting position to complete one repetition. Perform the same number of repetitions on the other side to complete one set.

Straddle. While holding the dumbbells with both hands, lift the dumbbells up and sideways. Your feet should rotate to help you extend your weight back and to the side. This is your starting position. Pivot your feet as you swing the weight down and across your body toward the opposite corner. Reverse the movement, lifting the weight back up and across your body to the starting position. A full ‘chop’ counts as one repetition. Perform the same number of repetitions on the other side to complete your set.

That’s it! I recommend doing abdominal exercises twice a week if you are prone to gaining weight in the abdominal area. You can do this workout twice…or once along with one of my other ab workout routines.
