How To Get Rid Of Fine Lines Around Mouth – I had a lovely new patient come in for an initial consultation the other day. Before we even sat down, she expressed her concern, “I need to stop these fine lines from getting deeper!” said. and began to follow the eye of his finger. Preventing eye wrinkles is one of the biggest concerns I hear, so I immediately let her know she’s not alone! Are fine lines under your eyes also one of your biggest concerns? I totally understand and I’m with you! Dark circles under your eyes, crow’s feet… whatever you call them, fine lines are a very welcome sight on our beautiful skin. Those fine lines and wrinkles we start to notice in the mirror are the result of both sun exposure and our skin producing less collagen and elastin as we age. Thankfully, there are a few steps you can take to help prevent and reduce those fine lines and dark circles. Here are a few tips that I regularly reveal to my beauty patients to help you achieve that radiant, youthful look. How to prevent fine lines around your eyes [8 Tips] Tip 1: Sleep on your back. Sleeping at night (even worse, on your stomach) can damage the delicate skin on your face. Friction on cushions has been proven to create more noticeable wrinkles, and the dirt and grease normally found on cushions only adds to the damage. If you’re like me, it’s almost impossible to sleep completely on your back, so to prevent my face from sliding at night, my ‘Be On Top’ pillow is coveted – with its patented ‘wrinkle protection’ design. I wish my younger self had trained earlier this year as a good way to prevent premature aging, but better late than never. I started using my Envy Pillow a few years ago and I definitely noticed a difference. Tip 2: Drink H2O! In addition to affecting energy levels and brain function, if you’re dehydrated, one of the first places it shows is under your eyes. Trust your thirst – if you’re thirsty, drink more water. Top up your H2O levels regularly, especially in Arizona where we tend to sweat in the sweltering heat. I also recommend switching to water 3-4 hours before bed to ensure you are well hydrated and prevent that last glass of wine from disrupting your sleep. Tip 3: Don’t rub your eyes no matter how tired you are. The delicate, thin skin around your eyes can age even more with pulling and pulling – contact lens wearers beware! Every time you pull your eyelids down and make contact, you may be aging yourself faster and damaging the delicate skin around your eyes. Be gentle! Tip 4: Be gentle when removing your eye makeup. I remind all of my patients that the under eye area lacks soft tissue such as fat or muscle and is more fragile and prone to damage. To help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, avoid harsh rubbing, tugging, or tugging when applying your eye makeup. If you wear waterproof makeup that is difficult to remove, invest in a quality makeup remover that will do the job with minimal effort. Tip 5: Wear UV Protection Sunglasses…even on a cloudy day! Did you know that UV rays are so strong that they penetrate up to 80% through clouds? Not only will glasses prevent your precious vision from fading, they’ll also protect you from itching (which can cause crow’s feet) and reduce the chance of sunburn on the skin around your eyes. Tip 6: Wear physical sunscreen. Single. Day. If you and I had talked, I might have stolen the offer. I recommend this to anyone who comes my way. You’d be surprised how far UV light travels through your car, home and office windows. These strong rays can cause faster aging, sunburn, discoloration, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. Protect your beautiful skin (and your health) by using a physical sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every day. The SPF in your makeup doesn’t count, and should instead just be considered a layer of protection. Avoid common mistakes by using at least a tablespoon on your face and 1-2 ounces on your body (even skin not exposed to direct sun!). Tip 7: Invest in a great eye cream. Prevention is key here – every 20+ should use an eye cream! My favorite is the SkinBetter Science Instant Effect Eye Gel. I have sensitive eyes and eye oil that tends to get irritated and burned, but I can use this without irritation and it gives me noticeable results. The benefits of using a specially formulated under-eye cream are significant: eye creams contain many active ingredients to fight dark circles and fine lines, while common eye cream ingredients like sodium ascorbate or vitamin C thicken the skin and hide darkness. After about six months of use. Niacinamide or vitamin B3 and kojic acid also help reduce dark circles. Refrigerated eye cream even reduces eye puffiness upon application! A cyst is a collection of fluid and blood under the eye, and in addition to other great eye cream ingredients that soak into your skin, you can reduce cold oil with your eyes. Tip 8: Check your vitamin levels. Dark circles can be a sign of vitamin K, iron, or other deficiencies, but it can also be a sign that you’re a new mom. Either way, getting your blood work done can help determine the root cause of your dark circles and help you develop a plan for correction and maintenance. These expert-level views prevent the appearance of new wrinkles and fine lines, as well as prevent existing lines from deepening. Under Eye Aesthetic Treatments If you want to take your eye care a step further, consider a variety of aesthetic treatments. I recommend the HydraFacial eye mask to myself and to a number of my patients who experience fine lines or dark circles under their eyes. It’s the only FDA-approved option in eye care that gently exfoliates and hydrates. I administer facials in the office, and there is no post-treatment appointment required! Additional in-office treatments I recommend to reduce fine lines: PDO Threads: Tightens and builds collagen, helps skin absorb and reduces fine lines and wrinkles PRP Injections: Rejuvenates skin and minimizes the appearance of dark circles. Reduces Fine Lines & Dark Circles Microdermabrasion Treatment: Helps maintain your youthful appearance by building collagen and treating the thin, delicate skin surrounding your eyes with gentle love and care!
